Kings Bay Sailor Killed in Crash |

KINGS BAY, Ga. -- A local sailor has died from his injuries following a crash over the weekend.

According to a news release from the U.S. Navy, Information Systems Technician 2nd Class Mark Dolan, 28, was ejected from a pickup truck that crashed late Saturday on Scrubby Bluff Road.

Investigators said they believe the truck was going too fast as it entered a turn, and the driver, 20-year-old Neil Alan Lavigne, lost control; the truck overturned several times, ejecting both occupants, then crashed.

Both were hospitalized.

Dolan died Sunday. Lavigne was in critical condition today.

A news release from the Georgia State Police said alcohol is not suspected as a factor in the crash.
