Old car lot becomes organic garden in record time

Everything Camden and beyond... Hi there, We are working on the Seeds of Love Community Garden in Kingsland. This is an organic garden for vegetables planted to provide food for the food banks. Actually, we're turning an old car lot (The old Bennett Chevy place on Hwy 17) into a community garden. The garden will also have a Butterfly Garden. We're hoping this garden will be an inspiration to other organizations such as churches, schools and civic organizations to start their own gardens. This project is one of the projects showcased by Lovetown, USA and our Grand Opening is scheduled for Thursday 4.00 pm - 6.00 pm.

Last Plum Orchard Sunday, January 22, 2012

Cumberland Island National Seashore Superintendent Fred Boyles announced today that Sunday January 22, 2012 will be the last Plum Orchard Sunday.  “The ferry service has been a convenient way for visitors to see Plum Orchard, but since we started the Lands and Legacies tour, the normally high fall and winter visitation numbers have not returned,” said Park Superintendent Fred Boyles.  “While the Plum Sunday tours were always popular with visitors, the demand is not as strong as it once was.  We will continue to do the annual Plum Orchard Christmas trip in December.”

Until now, a person has to have been dead for five years before appearing on a stamp. The post office has been facing severe financial problems, and a boost in stamp collecting would mean additional revenue.
