Today is Veterans Day. To honor the courageous men and women of our Armed Forces, both past and present, here are several ways that folks are supporting these individuals, including ideas on how you can make your impact:

Vets on a tight budget can put away their wallets over the next few days.

Some of the nation's largest retailers are offering a satchel full of freebies to veterans and active military members in honor of Veterans Day. Most of the freebies require proof of military service. Many are restricted to specific hours on Friday, but some of the giveaways begin earlier and have fewer restrictions.

Ripley’s Welcomes Law Enforcement Personnel at No Charge

 

Ripley’s Attractions of St Augustine, Florida will be hosting Law Enforcement Appreciation Days from November 1 through November 23. 

All Law Enforcement personnel currently employed in the state of Florida are invited to attend the following attractions at no charge during those dates: Ripley’s Believe it or Not! Museum, Ripley’s Red Sightseeing Trains and Ripley’s Bayfront Mini-Golf.  They may also purchase tickets to the Ripley’s Ghost Train Adventure for themselves and their guests at 50% off while also receiving discounts to over 100 shops and restaurants in the city with their Red Train sticker.

Boorito is Back: Chipotle Hosts Halloween Fundraiser & Launches Short Film to Benefit Farm Aid

 

Chipotle Mexican Grill  will raise up to $1 million to benefit family farmers through its annual “Boorito” Halloween fundraiser. Customers visiting any Chipotle restaurant in the US, Canada and the UK on Monday, October 31st from 6 p.m. to close dressed in a costume inspired by the family farm will be treated to a burrito, order of tacos, salad, or burrito bowl for only $2, and Chipotle will donate proceeds (up to $1 million) to Farm Aid and the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation.

High school students invited to create bear-awareness video for FWC contest

 

High school students interested in conserving the Florida black bear and raising public awareness about bears are invited to create a 1-minute video.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is extending the deadline in its 2011 Florida black bear public service announcement (PSA) contest. Launched in May, the FWC-sponsored contest now has a deadline of Nov. 18.
