Mobile Digital Mammography Receives ACR Accreditation

 

ST. MARYS, Ga.  — Southeast Georgia Health System has been awarded a three-year term of accreditation in Mobile Digital Mammography for its Wellness on Wheels (WOW) mobile health vehicle following a recent survey by the American College of Radiology (ACR).

Running Is All In the Family for Young Bridge Run Participant

When Ansley Wood of St. Simons Island, Ga. won the 18-and-under age group and placed second in the women's division of the 2011 Southeast Georgia Health System Bridge Run, she was tickled pink to receive $500.

It only took a millisecond for a  15-year-old St. Marys, Ga. boy to go into sudden cardiac arrest.

Andrew Cohn was playing baseball May 15, 2010, when a runner struck him at just the wrong moment, and the impact jolted his perfectly healthy heart into an abnormal rhythm. Andrew collapsed on the field and died later that day. His parents learned that a heart-shocking device called an automated external defibrillator, or AED, could have saved his life, if only it had been within reach.

Influenza (the flu) is a dangerous disease that takes the lives of thousands of people in the United States every year—and causes more than 200,000 people to be hospitalized. Anyone can get sick from the flu and spread the virus to others. Increases in flu activity are expected soon as the flu season gets underway.

Health System Announces Cancer Care Center-Camden Open House

 

The public is invited to a special Open House Celebration at the new Southeast Georgia Health System Cancer Care Center in the Medical Pavilion on the Camden Campus, 2040 Dan Proctor Drive, Suite 180, St. Marys. This event is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 12, from 6-8 p.m.  Attendees will tour the new facility and meet our board-certified physicians and the Cancer Care Center team. Light refreshments will also be served.
