How to Make that Seasonal Job a Permanent One

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- A holiday job could be the gift that keeps on giving this year.  According to WorkSource, 30 percent of employers plan to keep some of their seasonal help this year.

WorkSource's Candace Moody said the best way to ensure you are one of the people who stays on is to ask.

"The people who come up to their managers and say, 'I've really enjoyed working here.  I hope I've done a good job and I'd love to be one of the people you call back if you need help in the New Year.' Will go a long way toward getting the opportunity," explained Moody.

Local Best Buy manager Ryan Warshaw said he looks for people who are putting extra effort into helping shoppers and who have a good attitude.

Signing up for extra hours this week when others may be asking for time off can also set you apart, Moody shared.

Refund Check for Foreign Fees is Legit

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Be on the lookout for a holiday surprise in your mailbox.

"It's entirely possible that I have gotten that and thrown it away actually," said Lacey Walker.

Lacey Walker should have a surprise coming and it's because she traveled outside of the country and used her credit cards.

She could be one of the 10 million people who will get a check in the mail for that travel.

The check is worth $18.04.  All you have to do is go to the bank and the cash is yours.

Sound too good to be true?  "It's good.  Cash it and go to McDonald's and have lunch," said Tom Stephens, who is the President of the Northeast Florida Better Business Bureau.

Stephens has done his research, and he said the check is legit.

Southside Murder Suspect Arrested in South Carolina

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- The woman accused of killing a local woman in her home Friday used the victim's debit card shortly after the murder, helping police track her down quickly even though she was out of state by the time of her arrest.

According to Jacksonville Sheriff's Office Lt. Rob Schoonover in a Sunday news conference, 40-year-old Patty Michelle White had spent some time living with Michele O'Dowd, 67, in her home on Sutton Park Drive North, until they reached a point where the "relationship wasn't good" and White left.

Friday, a relative of O'Dowd found O'Dowd dead in her home, and the medical examiner determined she had been beaten and strangled.

Also, Schoonover said, her home had been ransacked and her debit card was stolen.
